The Friday Fax is like the canary in the mine.

Miners of old used little canaries to alert the miners to the presence of poisonous gas. When the canary toppled over, the miners made a run for it.

The Friday Fax is like that canary. The poisonous mine we cover is the UN social policy debate, where many misguided souls promote an international right to kill the baby in the Womb.
 
We are like that little canary because we go where regular folks just would not have the stomach to go.

Let me put it this way, a US delegate who served under George Bush once told me, right before she quit, “UN negotiations are dirty.”

We reported just last week that we had a pretty good document negotiated at the UN Commission on Population and Development. There was not even any “reproductive health”  (meaning abortion) in the document that is until the final two hours, behind closed doors, the document was loaded up with language used to promote abortion.

Friday Fax reporters were there, at the meeting, all the way through the night until it broke at 5 am.  And then we told the whole sordid mess to the international pro-life world. That, in a nutshell, is our job.

In 45 days another frightening meeting convenes in Washington DC except this one is even more dangerous, because it is not being run by UN member States. Pro-abortion UN agencies and pro-abortion advocacy groups like International Planned Parenthood Federation and “Catholics” for Choice are running it.

At least we have a chance when UN Member States are involved. After all, we have many good pro-life delegations that can be counted on. At this conference, those delegations will be excluded!  It is only pro-abortion advocates and the outcome of this conference will be a direct threat to the unborn child.

This conference is called “Women Deliver.” Two years ago, the UN held a similar meeting in London and a Friday Fax team attended to monitor the meeting and to report what happened. Our team actually held press interviews to show that there is not a single pro-abortion women’s voice!

Women Deliver II once more will advance a so-called right to abortion and they are going to do it under the guise of “maternal health.” What an awful thing to say the way for a woman to be healthy is to kill her unborn baby!

WE MUST ATTEND THIS CONFERENCE. WE MUST TELL THE TRUTH ABOUT WHAT GOES ON THERE.

BUT WE CANNOT DO THIS WITHOUT YOUR SUPPORT.

The UN does not support us. HAH! As if we would let them. But they do support pro-abortion groups.

Big foundations do not support us. They support the pro-abortion side.

Governments do not support us. They support the pro-aborts.

Who supports us? People just like you.

We come to you twice a year, that’s all, to ask for money to keep the Friday Fax going. We do not ask you every day or every week. We only ask you twice a year, Spring and Winter.

The Friday Fax is expensive to produce. We estimate it costs $177,000 per year to produce. That includes salaries, office rent, printing, postage, research and much else.

The pro-life and pro-family coalition is a small group of brave souls who come to the UN to fight for life and faith and family. Of this group, C-FAM is the only group who maintains an office and a staff to do this work and ONLY THIS WORK, and we have been doing it for 13 long years.

We need you now more than ever.

First, I ask for your prayers. This is not a fight against people.  A great priest one time said to me our opponents “are not monsters. They are merely middle class people who have been confused by Satan.” And so we pray for them and we pray for the unborn children who are their victims.

But, we don’t roll over either. We fight. And in order for C-FAM to our work and in keeping the Friday Fax going we need your help right now.
